On Thursday, August 10, 2023, during Meeting I of the 80th Convention held in Orlando, Florida, Knight Commander Simmons presented a Certificate of Honor to J. Mason McCauley (Alpha Theta–Transylvania ’04). The Certificate of Honor is given to recognize alumni who have made outstanding contributions to Active Chapters and is granted by the Knight Commander.
Mason was born on November 24, 1984, in Cynthiana, Kentucky. Mason graduated from Transylvania University in 2007. He was initiated by Alpha Theta Chapter at Transylvania University in 2004 and served as the Number VI for three terms. Since 2011, he has served as the Alumnus Advisor to the Alpha Theta chapter and currently serves as the President of the Bluegrass Alumni Chapter. Mason is a member of the Crimson & Gold Society and the John S. Candler Court of Honor. Professionally, Mason is a Vice President with Whitaker Bank in Lexington, Kentucky, serving as the Director of Centralized Lending overseeing loan operations for the bank, a position he has held since September 2021. Mason joined Whitaker Bank in 2019 and has worked in the banking industry for the past 16 years. Mason serves on the Board of Regents for Transylvania University and has been a volunteer with Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass for over 10 years. He is a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Lexington, Kentucky where he is an Elder and has served as a Trustee. Mason and his wife Haley reside in Lexington, Kentucky with their three children, Emory 6, Harrison 4, and Alice 1.
