Texas Attorney Named to Marquis Who’s Who Listing

Joseph William Whittenburg (Omicron–Texas ’94), also known as Joe Bill, is now included in Marquis Who’s Who. He was selected for inclusion based on numerous factors, including his positions, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in his fields.

Drawing on his years of experience in public accounting, business consulting, and corporate law, Mr. Whittenburg helps unlock the full potential of cross-functional teams. His ability to fluently speak most business languages enables him to operate as a force multiplier while performing his assigned roles. Before attending law school, Mr. Whittenburg worked in public accounting (then referred to as the “big five”), during which time he participated in the early days of the audit industry’s transition to a paperless workflow. While attending law school, he worked with accounting and information technology departments to transform reporting and operational processes. After completing law school, Mr. Whittenburg worked first in private practice and then in-house, where he developed his skills as a corporate lawyer.

In addition to his law practice and consulting career, Mr. Whittenburg works at AerMill Solutions, LLP (“AerMill”), which he founded in 2001. Between 2001 and 2005, AerMill operated as a small consulting firm with aspirations of becoming a software company. During this time, Mr. Whittenburg thoroughly enjoyed working closely with his dear friend and mentor, Larence R. Jordan. In 2021, he revitalized AerMill and is transforming it into a global network of high-end professionals whose services include business execution, business transformation, functional support, legal, and accounting.

Mr. Whittenburg was the fifth of nine children born to George A. Whittenburg, II and Ann B. Whittenburg. He attended his freshman year at Amarillo High School and then transferred to Tascosa High School. Upon completing high school, Mr. Whittenburg enrolled in The University of Texas at Austin, where he attained a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting, and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in economics. During college, Mr. Whittenburg also: worked several jobs; joined the fraternity, Kappa Alpha Order; completed three months of coursework at the Universidad de Guanajuato, Mexico; and received departmental honors from the Department of Economics upon submitting his thesis. After graduating from college, he moved to Houston, Texas, acclaimed for its friendliness and diversity, where he studied at the University of Houston Law Center and continues to live and work. He enjoys great relationships with his siblings and those of his cousins with whom he spent significant time during childhood. Mr. Whittenburg enjoys many friendships from each phase of his life. He regards his friends and family as the most remarkable collection of people on earth.

Outside of his work, Mr. Whittenburg contributes to his community through his church and Trees for Houston. He also joins his friends, family, and clients in supporting numerous other organizations and causes of their choosing. Mr. Whittenburg draws his greatest satisfaction from contributing to the support and development of the people around him and to the success of the teams on which he collaborates.
