Arron Slaten (Beta Xi–Oklahoma State ’10) competed in the Southeast Region Texas B.A.S.S. Nation Fishing Tournament held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Lake Palestine near Tyler, Texas.
After reeling in five fish totaling 22.26 pounds, including an 8.66-pounder that earned the Big Bass of the Tournament honors, Aaron won first place.
Utilizing a custom-poured worm on a Sixgill Fenrir flipping rod paired with a Sixgill Hammer reel, Arron started the day focusing on an area of standing timber that he located during practice, but due to the wind, he shifted his strategy. Hoping the weather front stirred up some fish, he started casting near some rocks. In the middle of a couple of docks, is where he caught his big bass and several other quality fish.
Arron is a member and past president of the Stillwater, OK Alumni Chapter and a member of the Loyal Order.
