Orlando Alumni Chapter Wins Alumni Chapter of the Year

Brent Ellis with Knight Commander Simmons

On Thursday, August 10, 2023, during Meeting I of the 80th Convention held in Orlando, Florida, Knight Commander Simmons presented the William E. Forester Alumni Chapter of the Year Award to the Orlando, Florida Alumni Chapter. The Certificate of Honor is given to recognize alumni who have made outstanding contributions to Active Chapters and is granted by the Knight Commander.

The William E. Forester Alumni Chapter Award is given in memory of William E. Forester, Former Executive Director, Executive Vice President, and Archivist, to recognize the most outstanding Alumni Chapter. Brent E. Ellis (Gamma Pi–Florida Southern ’98) was present to accept the award.

The Alumni Chapter has been a stalwart for KA for several years. They meet monthly, organize brotherhood events such as golf outings, Convivium, and other activities, and have begun holding an annual dinner and fundraiser in honor of Stumpy Harris, a former KAOEF Trustee and initiate from Beta Zeta Chapter at the University of Florida, who passed away in 2021. They are establishing an annual golf event where all proceeds are contributed to the Stumpy Harris Scholarship Fund. Several of their members are on the 80th Convention Steering Committee.
