On Wednesday, August 25, 2021, the Zeta Nu Chapter at the University of North Florida presented an all-terrain track wheelchair to retired Marine veteran Chris Scott. To make this possible, the chapter fundraised more than $20,000 for the Independence Fund through a number of events over the past six months.
Chris enlisted in the Marine Corps in July 2004, and served with the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines from 2006-2011, deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times. After being wounded by an IED blast and suffering several spinal injuries, he medically retired in January of 2012. Scott is currently fighting stage 3 lymphoma.
T.J. Price, Number I of the Chapter, said that they are excited to make this an annual event.
To date, this is the tenth track chair that the Order has presented to wounded veterans through The Independence Fund.
