Dr. Thomas “Sean” Murphy (Epsilon–Emory ’85), founder of Procurri Corporation Ltd., received the 2024 Business to Business Entrepreneur Award from the Emory Goizueta Business School. Sean was awarded the honor during a reception on Thursday, April 18, 2024. Annually, the Emory Entrepreneur Network selects alumni across a range of industries who founded a business that has achieved significant growth in the form of discovery, profit, or influence.
Sean has more than 25 years of experience in the information technology industry and is responsible for the strategic planning and overall management of Procurri.
Sean began his career in technology sales and, within 10 years, worked his way to the position of vice president of international sales to oversee the company’s work in more than 70 countries. In 1998, he and three partners launched Canvas Systems Inc., one of the world’s largest independent resellers of pre-owned, enterprise computer systems with offices in the United States, United Kingdom, and Netherlands. Canvas Systems was acquired by Avnet Inc. in 2012. Sean’s string of tech successes in the United States also included co-founding Optimus Solutions Inc. in 2001, which was sold to Softchoice Corporation in 2008. In 2013, he helped launch Procurri Corporation and was appointed the CEO in 2014. Procurri completed a successful IPO on the Singapore stock market in July 2016.
Sean received the Entrepreneurial Success Award by the U.S. Small Business Administration in 2002. In 2006, he was selected as one of Atlanta’s 40 under 40 by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and was awarded the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce’s Pinnacle Small Business Person of the Year in 2007.
A native of Roswell, GA, he is married with four children. Sean’s Emory College degree is in economics.
