John C. Cox (Delta Beta–Delta State ’93) will be inducted into the Mississippi Tennis Hall of Fame at a formal banquet on January 25, 2025, at River Hills Club in Jackson, Mississippi. Cox has been a prominent figure in Mississippi tennis for decades, first as a player, then as a coach and a volunteer, serving on every level of the U.S. Tennis Association’s committee and board structure in Mississippi. As an adult league captain, he has led 16 teams to state championships, while also playing and serving as a captain for the Mississippi Senior Cup (Callen Cup) team. Cox’s dedication to the sport as a volunteer has earned him some elite honors, including being named Mississippi’s Volunteer of the Year in 2018. With a BA from Delta State and a JD from the University of Mississippi, he is a practicing attorney with the firm of Cox & Moore in his hometown of Cleveland, Mississippi.
