During a Chapter Meeting in the fall, Hugh A. Farmer III (Nu–Auburn ’72) and two other alumni visited to share the story of Jack B. Carter II (Nu–Auburn’71). “The Chapter room is named for him,” Hugh commented. “Jack was single-handedly responsible for returning KA to Auburn.” Unfortunately, Jack passed away in 2014, and Hugh and several fellow brothers plan to attend a Chapter meeting every few years to ensure Jack is remembered.
“After our visit to Chapter meeting, Pepper Miller current Number I and Duncan Bickslayer Number V asked me what could they do for more Alum involvement,” Hugh continued. “I came up with the Career Day idea.”
The Nu Chapter at Auburn University held its first Career Day for undergraduate brothers and alumni to connect, network, and share their professional experiences. More than 20 alumni participated on a Saturday afternoon, and professions represented included medicine, aviation, real estate, construction, forestry, banking, finance, hospital administration, lobbying, government, insurance, veterinary medicine, pharmacy, and accounting.
“During the event, brothers young and old conversed on the latest topics and trends in specific career fields and active members left the event with much knowledge and awareness of their future professional plans,” said Dunwody Province Commander E. Preston Pritchett III (Nu–Auburn ’10). “The Career Day was a roaring success and will be enhanced in future years. I was delighted to be in attendance.”
