William E. Dreyer

William E. Dreyer was born and raised in Concordia, Missouri. After graduating from William Jewell College in 1959, he began his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Saint Louis, Missouri. He progressed through assignments in Missouri, Georgia, Kansas and Texas. Bill was the company’s coordinator for the 1976 Republican National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri. Dreyer became General Manager of the Southwestern Region for the Western Electric Company in Saint Louis in 1982.
In 1985, he was named President of the Kansas Division of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Bill became Group President of Southwestern Bell Corporation in Saint Louis in 1988, and was responsible for overseeing one international and three national subsidiaries.
Dreyer was named President of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company of Texas in 1992. He headed a work force of over 30,000 employees, who provided telecommunications services to more than five million customers.
Bill retired in 1998 as the Senior Executive Vice President of SBC, which is now AT&T. The presidents of the states reported to him in that position, and he reported to the Chairman of the Board.
Dreyer serves on the Board of Trustees of William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri. In 1985, he received the Citation of Achievement from Jewell.
He was the Knight Commander of the Kappa Alpha Order from 2011 to 2015. Bill serves on the Board of Trustees of the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation, and on the boards of several other organizations.
Dreyer and his wife, Linda, are members of the Alamo Heights United Methodist Church. They have two daughters, two sons-in-law, one granddaughter and four grandsons. They live in San Antonio, Texas.
