John Leonard Whitworth

Elected October 3, 1885, by the Thirteenth Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, Whitworth had been born in the city in 1856. He was initiated by Lambda Chapter in 1873. One new charter was issued during his tenure, although four other chapters were revived, and the Grand Purser system was instituted as chapters began to pay national dues. The Journal also reappeared during his term, and Whitworth served on the committee appointed to adopt a coat of arms. President of the 1885 Convention, Whitworth was businessman in Nashville and died there in 1905.
