Steven E. Hastings

Conferred by Knight Commander King V. Aiken, Jr. during the Beta Epsilon Chapter Restoration Banquet at the White Clay Creek Country Club in Wilmington, Delaware.
Dr. Hastings graduated from the University of Delaware in 1972 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and earned a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from The Pennsylvania State University in 1978. While an active member, he served as Number IX.
From 2017 to 2022, Dr. Hastings served as Province Commander of the James Ward Wood Province. He has served both as the Alumnus Advisor for Beta Epsilon as well as the Faculty Advisory (2004–2018) and is a past recipient of the Order’s Faculty Advisor of the Year Award. He previously served for six years as the Deputy Province Commander for Academic Affairs. He is a member of the Wood Province Court of Honor and was recently elected Preceptor of that Court. He is a multi-year member of the KAOEF’s Crimson & Gold Society.
Dr. Hastings is a member currently a member of the Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation, the Epsilon Housing Corporation, and is Chairman of Beta Epsilon Alumni Advisory Committee, all in support of the Beta Epsilon Chapter.
Dr. Hastings retired from the faculty of the University of Delaware having begun in 1978 rising to the rank of Full Professor. He served as Associate Chair of the Department of Applied Economics and Statistics for more than 13 years. He was granted Emeritus status by the university. He and his wife Jeanne have a son, Scott, and two daughters, Hanna and Rebecca.
