David P. Barksdale

Awarded by Knight Commander Darren S. Kay at a Brotherhood Reception during the 10th Meeting of the 40th Executive Council at the Forsyth Country Club in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
David was initiated into the Tau Chapter in 1983. During his time as an undergraduate, he served his chapter as recruitment chairman, Number IV, and Number IX. David graduated from Wake Forest University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics.
In addition to more than 30 years of experience in the banking industry, David worked as Wake Forest University’s Director of the College Fund from 2003 to 2004. During that time, he served as the Tau Chapter’s Faculty Advisor, helping the men navigate their re-chartering process. Re-entering the banking industry in 2004, David has served in numerous leadership roles at several regional banks, including as President and Chief Executive Office of Carolina Premiere Bank. Currently, he is the President of North Carolina First Reliance Bank.
David is active in the Boy Scouts of America and has held various board positions including: Community Investment Corporation of the Carolinas, North Carolina A&T State University Board of Visitors, Leadership North Carolina Class of XIX, Leadership Winston-Salem, Forsyth Tech Foundation, and the Piedmont Triad Leadership Institute.
David served as the Commander of the Ed Chambers Smith Province from 2006 to 2011. In 2011, at the 74th Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, David was elected to the Executive Council and has been re-elected by each Convention to the present.
A member of the Loyal Order and participant in Forever KA, David has also been a member of the Kappa Alpha Order Educational Foundation’s Crimson & Gold Society annually since 2013. In 2004, he was inducted into the Smith Province Court of Honor.
David lives in Winston-Salem with his wife Jennifer, and they have two daughters, Emma James, and Hallie.
