Our History
Kappa Alpha Order was founded on December 21, 1865, when three friends, soon to be joined by the fourth founder, gathered in a small room at Washington College, now Washington and Lee University, in Lexington, Virginia, and decided to bind their friendship by a “mutual pledge of faith and loyalty. James Ward Wood toasted the “two Williams,” and the idea for KA was born.
